“I love design, particularly the problem solving bit. I am detailed orientated and get pleasure from reducing something complex to its simplest form.

I’ve a big passion for building and nurturing brands and campaigns and believe my recent studies in UI and UX Design have made me an even better designer.”

My design solutions are informed by my studies in to Human Centred Design, my well-embedded knowledge of design principles and production processes (I can get quite nerdy about print!) and of course a big sprinkle of creativity. This ensures my design are robust, visually engaging and meet the requirements of the brief every time.

My sweet spot for a design style is simplicity; plenty of white space – using graphics and imagery to represent information where possible. I’m not adverse to making sense of stats on slides and I really like considering the users journey through a product or service. I’m quite a visual magpie and believe I can pick up the intended look and feel of a brand quickly (I do read the brand guidelines too!).

Sector experience.

If you choose to employ my services, you will find I have a friendly approachable nature and that I take the time to understand your needs and objectives. Need me to join a team, no problem, but equally can and do go it alone and I take direction well. I believe we create the best design solutions working collaboratively, have a pro-active can-do approach and a good pinch of practicality, ie; I know when to leave it to an expert if it’ll blow the budget / timeframe.

“Good design is like a refrigerator—when it works, no one notices, but when it doesn’t, it sure stinks.”

Going forward I would like the opportunity to apply my knowledge of User Centred Design (UX) to more digital projects, would like to learn some basic animation and video editing skills and am particularly interested in the idea of designing for services.

I am inspired by a diverse flow of work so happy to take on any project I know I can deliver successfully. Qualifications.

All of the above means I sit at my computer for hours on end. To balance out the screen time I go for the odd swim or scenic walk, spend time with family and friends, devise creative projects that are not screen based (anything from cake making to painting the shed – and try to get my daughter to participate). I’m dreaming of doing more lino-print projects whilst wondering how I can shoe-horn this idea in to a project (so I watch lots of Instagram videos instead). Occasionally I can be found sitting around a camp fire on a camping trip too.
